Electives

Electives

This week we started doing electives. For Science, we did a growing crystals experiment. One sample was done with boiling water and the other was done with cold water. We will do daily observations and see which one worked best. We had to complete a procedural writing.

For music, we had to learn how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the keyboard and guitar. We then presented to the class on Friday. For some of us, it was our first time.

Isaiah was really talented on the guitar.

He thought us how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Mankirat then taught Kendra how to play.

For Art, we made sculptures out of clay. First, we had to do a piece of artwork on paper. Then we had to research how to use clay. It was a very messy project.

Our second art project was to do a grandpa portrait using cool and warm colours. We learnt that cool colours were

For Cooking, we made omelettes.  First we had to write a procedural writing on how to make an omelette. Then we had to do some research around hygiene in the kitchen and safety around appliances.

Mr Savage forgot our eggs at home. Lucky we could rely on Percy and Hattie (our chickens).

Our omelettes turned out pretty good.

Footsteps Dance - Hip Hop

Footsteps Dance - Hip Hop

Every Friday we have dance lessons with Jerry from Footsteps.  Their program develop students’ social skills, confidence, fitness levels, creativity, expressive skills and coordination. They provide a safe, positive and stimulating environment for all students! Their moto is:

DANCE + DRAMA = ACTIVE, CREATIVE, RISK TAKERS!

We danced to the song Gasolina. Artist Daddy Yankee.

Choreographic Intent: Gasolina is a reggaeton song with synthesized beats and a catchy chorus. The choreography for this dance draws from a fusion of reggae, hip hop and dancehall, all contributing to a vibrant and very active routine. The dance focuses on the element of SPACE, more specifically directions, as students learn a variety of movements that face different sides of the room, rotate and turn, as well as travel sequences along different pathways.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. Jerry was blown away with our behaviour and on our dancing ability.
She managed to teach us double the amount that she actually planned for.

We continued to practice our moves during our fitness sessions.

Tomillia was awesome, she put a lot of energy into her dance routine. She led the class.
