Welcome to Grace Fakalogotoa Our Student Teacher

Welcome to Grace Fakalogotoa Our Student Teacher

Whakapono 23 was really lucky to have Whaea Grace join us for the week.

Hi everyone, my name is Grace Fakalogotoa and I am a first year student at AUT, studying towards a Bachelor of Education specialising in primary school teaching. I am very grateful for the opportunity to join Whakapono 23 and observe the classroom for the week.

I am 23 years old, of Niuean descent, and have lived in South Auckland for the majority of my life. South Auckland is an awesome community, and once I have graduated my end goal is to teach in this area too.

For first year education students at AUT, there are two practicums. The first practicum is an observation week, where I absorb as much teaching knowledge as possible. The second practicum is for 3 weeks, and this occurs towards the end of the next semester, approximately in September. Usually, students are sent back to the same school for the second practicum, to build upon the exisiting relationships they have made within this first week of observations.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome to Rowandale School, I look forward to meeting you all throughout the remainder of this week!
