Year 5 E.O.T.C. Day 2

Year 5 E.O.T.C. Day 2

Part of the EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) learning focussed on skill development, fun and enjoyment. Year 5 students were involved in curriculum-based teaching and learning activities that doesn’t normally happen in a classroom environment or happens outside of the classroom. Students experienced and reinforced learning by making connections between what they have learnt or experienced in the classroom and the world beyond the classroom (EOTC).  These experiences also gave students opportunities to demonstrate the key competencies such as thinking, understanding symbols and text, managing self, relating to others and participating and contributing.

Students kept active in each Sport rotation outside the classroom ie. Volleyball, Netball, Basketball and Tennis. Sessions went well.  It was awesome seeing students using their listening skills, followed instructions and taking the lead.

Students were able to identify some of the different parts/functions of a bike. They were clear and specific with their understanding to the purpose of bike safety.

Students were able to write a procedure on how to make a healthy sandwich using a writing template. They enjoyed assembling their sandwiches with lettuce, cucumber, ham, tomato and cheese) as part of procedural writing. We also looked at hygiene around making a sandwich, safety with utensils (knife), preparation of sandwich making and manners.

Movie afternoon - Angry Birds. Students really enjoyed the movie. They were really well behaved. Having popcorn and ice block were the highlights.
They used their listening skills, social skills
and interacted with their peers from other classes.
